Commuter Students

More than 60% of North Park’s undergraduate students live off-campus. That’s around 950 people who commute from locations all over Chicagoland. If you’re a commuter student, you’re in good company.

North Park’s Office of Student Activities and the Commuter Student Association work together to connect you to campus resources and the North Park community. We want you to feel at home while you’re at North Park. Check out the resources below to find answers to your questions and how to get connected.

Commuter Application

Here’s the information you need if you’d like to live off-campus and commute to North Park:

  • Read our on-campus housing requirement and exceptions to make sure you qualify as a commuter.
  • If you are a new commuter student getting ready for your first semester, follow the instructions on our admitted students’ Housing and Commuting Options page.
  • If you were approved as a commuter during your first semester at North Park, you do not need to complete the commuter application again each year.
  • If you are returning as a commuter student to North Park after a leave of absence, fill out the commuter application form (login required).
  • Failure to submit a commuter form will result in a non-compliance fee of $1,125 – submit your commuter application today!
  • Contact Residence Life and Housing with any questions.

Student Activities

A great way to meet new people at North Park as a commuter is to join a student organization, team, or activity. See what’s available:

Dining on Campus

There are many places on campus and in the neighborhood to grab a bite when you’re at North Park. If you want to eat on campus, add Flex Dollars to your student ID; this form of payment is accepted in the dining hall, Viking Café, and Bickner Bistro.

Parking and Transit

North Park is easily accessible whether you drive or take public transit. If you plan on driving to campus, you can purchase a parking sticker for North Park University lots or attempt to park on un-permitted streets in the surrounding neighborhood. If you choose the second option, pay careful attention to seasonal parking restrictions and other signage. Parking tickets are no fun.
